The MS162 is the new chainsaw that replaces the Stihl MS170. The MS162 has the same power output as the MS170 with the addition of 4 key user benefits: lateral chain tensioning, improved control lever, improved tank visibility and an anti-vibration system providing greater comfort and smoother cutting.
The MS162 is suitable for infrequent domestic use for tasks such as cutting firewood and pruning smaller branches.

- Modernised design. New less boxy design consistent with all new models ranging from the MS162 to the MS 212.
- Sprocket cover chain tensioning. Chain tensioner is now positioned under the sprocket cover instead of the front of the saw.
- Control lever automatically returns to idle.
- Transparent fuel and oil tank so the user can see when the chain oil tank needs to be topped up.
- Spring Anti-vibration system for a smoother cutting experience.
